"..a furry, foul smelling nuiscance. Proof that Xian's corruption does not end with the human rance."
- Capt. Kovacs of the SMP
General
Description:
Short, stocky, and covered with hair, this slightly oversized primate of uncertain origin has been Fu'Xian's personal
companion as long as anyone in living memory can remember.
Monkeys are not particularly unusual in China, even when seen in
major cities like Shanghai. For centuries, they have been the prized pets of pirates, merchants, and nobility, as well as the more
eccentric members of Shanghai's large non-Chinese population.
Zang, like his master, however, is considered by some to be little
more than an urban legend. A bogey tale designed to frigthen the unwary. Those in the know, however, know that Zang is both very real,
and very dangerous. The kind of danger that your mother warned you about - something that begins with a laugh and ends with an eye
being poked out.
Rumors that Zang, or a relative, was responsible for a series of murders in Paris in the last century remain
unsubstantiated.
Preferred Weapons:
Zang enjoys playing with bright, shiny things...
Training:
Animal cunning and a twisted sense of humor
seem to ably sum up Zang's training. He is, at least, a semi-domesticated primate of uncertain species, but just what exactly he's
capable of remains a subject of dark speculation.
Known Allies and Associates:
Fu'Xian has agents throughout the East: beautiful
women with curves as deadly as their hidden weapons, fearsome men with an assortment of nasty habits, political allies and low life
thugs, and an assortment of otherworldly creatures best described as the arcane insidiousness of an ancient past. However, no associate
is as loyal, or as dependable, as Zang.
He may occasionally swing from a chandelier or throw feces at inpportune times, but Zang
is fiercely loyal to Fu'Xian and Fu'Xian alone. Only Fu'Xian seems to be able to communicate with him to any extent, only Fu'Xian
seems to be able to find him when he's needed, and only Fu'Xian seems to be able to avoid being the subject of one of Zang's numerous,
and disgusting, practical jokes.
Potential foes of Fu'Xian know that following the path of conflict with the Xian Cabal inevitably
leads through lies, treachery, fiendish traps, and, at some point, Zang himself!
